Fly High Fat Sac ballast bags have a unique port that’s made with a different material than other ballast bag ports. This material leaves the thread softer than some other bags so the threads can easily be dented, cross-threaded, or stripped. Luckily, the soft port also allows us to easily fix the threads with heat. You can use a hair dryer, which will eliminate the chance of damage due to overheating, or simply set the bag out in the sun on a warm day.a heat gun.
If you find you’re having issues threading in the fittings when you first receive your bag, or if this happens down the road after some use, simply hold a hair dryer to the port for about 30-90 seconds (depending on how cold the materials are to start). As soon as it the threads are warmed up, carefully thread in the bag fitting, trying to match any threads that are in good condition. Make sure the fitting is screwed all the way down but do not over tighten. Let the bag cool for a few minutes and test the port by unthreading and rethreading the fitting.
After that is done and everything looks good, you are all set and ready to start using your bag again.
