Reading information from your current prop

Knowing the characteristics of the prop that is currently on your boat can help tremendously when it comes time to shop for a new prop.  Regardless of the manufacturer, every prop will have at least some identifying information stamped into the hub where the blades meet.  A picture of an ACME prop is included below, which shows the information they include.

Although the amount of detail will vary based on the company that originally made the prop, at least some helpful information will always be included.
